hi, i'm not even sure we have chiropractors in turkey... BUT...we do have trained massage therapists...in ResitPasa/Emirgan is the Rehabilitation Center for the Blind. they have had an excellent training program for the past few years...their graduates are very good!!! and.. for those of you that need glasses...there is an opthmology clinic on the premises and a shop that can fill the prescription and sell you good quality frames at much less than in other places. i have worked with the blind in turkey since 1991..if you need more info i'm sure i can help you. good luck. i know about bad backs...they aren't nice!!

wow...thanks... Really, no chiropractors?..I was looking forward to a good crackin'...a decent massage might do the trick. Do you have an address or phone number? How do you get there from Taksim by public transport?

I can't find the phone number, especially since i moved from the city and i'm into my third phone book!! but it's easy to find...take the bus (which one, i don't know that anymore either) but i do know that there's a bus directly to ResitPasa from Mecidikoy...that's the bus you need. NOT the Emirgan bus because that doesn't pass 'AltiNokta Rehab center'. you have to pass the Istanbul Stock Exchange and the keep your eye on the left for a supermarket - medium size...and that's the stop you need. the rehab center is on your right side about another 100 feet down the road. it's in a nice green area so look for the sign. oh..there's also a statue of ataturk using a cane like a blind person!! can't miss it!! good luck. if you're really stuck, i'll give you the phone number of a blind friend who speaks english and he'll probably know the number. do you speak turkish?

I know a great doctor whose specialization is Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. He helped me twice -- once when I had terrible tendonitus in one shoulder and another time when I had "frozen shoulder" in the other. He speaks some English (and Hungarian, too!) besides Turkish. His name is Erdal Þalikoðlu. Tel. 0212-351-44-61 (office) and 0532-433-82-20 (GSM). His office is in Etiler, near Akmerkez. He also works at Baltýlimaný Orthopedic Hospital. Try him. He's really good... and a sweet guy, too... he's also a musician!

Thanks Sylvia - What could I expect to pay for a consultation?

Well, about 1 1/2 years ago he was charging about 70 million for consultation. But seeing that things keep going up here rather quickly, it could be between 100-110 million. His PT treatments were 50 million each, I think.
