since i'm is a kinda struggle these days with my employer (he announced in june that i'd be 'free-lance' as of the end of august but no details have come through as of yet.. can we say 'son dakika'?? the boss had a heart attack last year and everything has been shaken up as a result) i've been checking around to learn my 'rights' in all of this. i've been working legally in turkey since 1990 and with this company for 7-8 years. anyway, a former colleague at the firm, who left herself before all this 'sh**' hit the fan, sent me a very interesting document in english but from the turkish government...if anyone wants to see it, send me an email and i'll attach the text..it's about 15 pages long...it was an 'eye-opener' for me...not even the US consulate had this copy on file...i sent it to my contact there.

But I think they definitely have it. The document you're referring to is not a classified one, meaning that it is widely open for public access. Please check the Turkish Labor Department's site for more details: www.calisma.gov.tr/CGM/Law_Work.htmThanks for sharing, though! kind regards, -pacificwaves

Hi, of course you're correct, this document is NOT classified at all...and the consulate may indeed have it, but in the past month i have spoken to them many times and received other information from them but never this. this came from another source. i didn't know about the website. thank you very much. i'm sure it's very useful. maybe we should start a data bank for information like this. it's not always available from other sources that we deal with...it's good to go 'right to the horse's mouth' when we need info.
i'm still in a 'holding pattern' waiting for my boss to decide what we're doing. it's a very uncomfortable position for me...you know how americans are...we want everything yesterday!!
i'm here in Turkey probably to learn how to be patient!!
thanks for the tip.
