I know that there is a good regular bus service between Istanbul and Fethiye but does anybody have any information about trains?
Is there a train station in Fethiye? If not, where is the nearest?

Hi Alan, After all the bad press you still want to get on trains in Turkey.
there is no station in Fethiye and I think the nearest one would be Denizli which is still a few hours away from Fethiye but these trains are slow and lately have a habit of crashing. I would advise flying as it only costs 89 million one way at the moment between dalaman and istanbul.

I have to agree with starman on this one, why would you ever want to take a train? ?? In the past month two have crashed - doesnt sound like good odds to me. Also, as starman also pointed out they are very slow. You could take a bus, they are pretty safe and quick. Kelly

Thanks for the info you 2.
I've done the bus trip a couple of times. It's boring and uncomfortable. The seats aren't made for people who are 6 foot tall like me. Plus I wasn't happy with the 1 driver doing the whole 13 hour journey each time.
I'll stick to flying.

Well then there are always those problems THY is having now a days. They have been having a lot of emergency landings in the past few months, mainly with domestic flights. As I see it any way you travel in Turkey there are going to be risks, but the train system seems to be the most risky right now.

I recommend you take the plane, even they got problems in the past. As I heart, it was mainly on bombing threats. Just don't touch, what you don't know, even a wallet was used once as a bomb on a domestic flight, while the cleaning stuff lost a hand. Anyway, train is more danger, bus is most uncomfortable and the risk with the plane is at least for me acceptable have a good time in Fethiye
