Hey hey hey! The smelly river isn't that bad... (joke). I live in Goztepe and it is great. It is so quiet here and I am only a 10 minute mini bus ride to Kadikoy. I do wish we were a little closer to Taksim but....I never have to look for a place to park my car, I have quiet neighbors, and I think our shops are cheaper over here... That is my two cents on this area... Have a nice day everyone!

There are actually a lot of expenisve areas over there, I used to live in Bostanci and all my family lives on that side. Now Bostanci was by no means pricey but the bagdat cad. area is a bit out of my league. Istanbul is like everyother city I've been to, there are good areas and bad areas no matter where you go. You have the smelly river I have the smelly Istinye harbour. Its all part of life in Turkey. Kelly

The only part of the 'other' side I like is Bostanci and bagdat caddesi. all those starbucks cafes really remind of home. apart from that there is nothing else to do apart from going to watch fenerbahce beat galatasaray again and again.
