When I was a kid, we used to say "Cool people sit at the back of the bus". (Of course, I always seemed to find myself in one of the front seats. And it wasn't until much later I realized the cool people weren't in the bus at all. They were in their friends' Camaros.)
Anyway, nowadays, it's "Cool people live on the Asian side". I don't know what's up with you Euro trash, but deep down you know the Asian side's the place to be.
Okay, yeah, I'm sure Istiniye's nice and all, but it's really just another Asian side kind of place, except it got lost on the way over.
Besides, Holger lives over here too, and if ever there was a gold standard barometer of cool, it's Holger! ;-)

Hey Steve how is your Camaro doing? I just got mine washed ;D Matt I dont know how to break this to you, but you've finally made it to the back of the bus but- we are in our camaros... lol I cant talk too much trash about asia though, thats where my family is from. But you know my grandfather was smart enough to move out of there! I remember when I lived in Bostanci, I always wanted to go out on this side. Caddebostan, bagdat cad. and the like arent bad on a chill night but man you guys are really lacking in fun Friday/Saturday night bars. But hey I can have fun anywhere, give me some booze and I am happy for the rest of the night! Steve I'm not up on my "male turkish words" but I think I know what your talking about - I could ask around and see if I can find a place like it It wont be like Karakoy though

Now steve how in the world would I know the rate for the nice middle age lady who stands by the bus stop? I know that I seem to have a lot of random sex industry info, but one thing I dont have is rates. I could as the woman who lives around the corner from me how much she charges, but she is pretty nasty.
Sorry matt if your sensitive to this topic. By the way I asked my cousin last night about the red light district on the other side. He said they have a few places but nothing like karakoy. But if anyone is ever in need they could always pick up those girly looking men on the sea shore road leading to bostanci.

I have seen the ones on the other side around the sahil yolu. Man are they bad but then again propably something to do with too much exposure to the smell of that river and the stress of living on the asian side.

Hi, What is this all about, I'm not in town for a week and you guys start talking bad about this lovely, quiet site of town? No kidding! Yes, there is no Taksim here (over crowded place for pedestrians), yes there is no Nisantasi here (money spending in high speed), not many historical places (want to buy a carpet?) and fancy European stuff. But, do we need it? Who really goes to those places pretty often? It's just the living has a better value over on the Asian site, there are lot's of bars as well, even Leila started a place only a few weeks ago, the Kirinti is better then in Nisantasi - hey we have two of them! So, why do we always meet on the European site? I guess because the "Asian people" are more relaxed, we don't offend anybody by asking to come over, guess Europeans would get lost ;D Cheers

HA! another asian come to grind his sword. We europeans never get lost. not also can I drive from Tarabya to Etiler in 20 mins during rush hour I could also make it from Tarabya to Goztepe in 30 mins. But coming back takes me more then 2 hours. the traffic of people going to the european side is unreal and yet know no one wants to return. what are they fleeing? not just Matts smelly river is it? or maybe they heard about pacificwaves 500,000 lira doner kebab in Aksaray.
