(Hope this is not a silly question but...) If I buy CDs from Amazon, for instance, and get them to deliver to Turkey, will I have to pay any tax on the import? We're talking under 5 CDs. Ta!

You may well pay 18% as amazon wont declare it as a gift worth $5 which I would normally ask the shipper to do. Its down to luck on wether the customs man has had a good day with his wife or not.

So I can send it via a mate in UK who can then declare it under USD5.

i don't know if there is scientific explanation for this and starman might know better, but experience has proven that packages sent to a business address by other means than postal service (for exampple: ups, fedex, dhl, etc) rareley get caught up in customs. so far i had not a single package get caught by customs.

I want stuff that you probably can't get here: Mohamed Mounir and Ismael Lo. Trying to find downloads.

Charly - try using Emule for downloads. I had a quick check and got over 300 mp3's for Ismael Lo and 100 for Ismael Lo, some of them full albums. You can get a copy at: www.emule-project.net/You get any probs setting it up, gimme a shout. JohnF

I have been using kazalite and limewire but both are crap compared how to the p2p's used to be. I also notice there is a lot of dodgy mp3's out there. you get to half way through the song then you get the white noise. I hear its a company in new york hired by the record labels to put those files out there. How thoughtful of them. I will give yours a try John as downloading albums is a better choice considering how many tracks I need to put on my ipod.

Yeah you do get dodgy downloads sometimes although the advantage of emule is that there are comments attached to the files. If you try it you'll see what I mean. If the file is a fake, someone usually puts a note on saying that it is (doesn't happen ALL the time). I will say that wrongly labelled tracks are more a prob on Emule than "white noise". I allow for about 25% of files not being what they say they are, although sometimes you find a music file labelled as one album, you d/l it, find it's another completely different album by another artist, have a listen and find it's a good album! Another good one to try is WinMx, very different from Emule but still good for music. It's at www.winmx.comJohnF
