Maybe someone can tell me why these words came about as I cant understand where they came from. Amerikan kapi? (inner door) Amerikan mutfak? (kitchen in the living area) Amerikan salatasi? (potatoe, mayo, peas etc in a salad) cizburger? (with cheese not ciz) ingiliz anahtari? (monkey wrench) amerikan bezi? (nappys but whats american about them)

I never understood the Amerikan salatasý bit either. Does Þütte really think that a nation of 275 million is devoid of taste buds?! Perhaps "Amerikan mutfak" lends itself to the fact that most Americans eat in the kitchen, unlike here; and cheeseburger could be a Turkicization of the French "le cheeseburger." "Burger de fromage" or "Peynir burgeri" just don't cut it, I guess :-)
